I don't see anything wrong with it provided that you're getting a quality education. Personally, I was home schooled before attending college at age 16 (and not for high school courses). It's not like you can't get an education from places other than the traditional public school.

I bet any schooling through BYU is a quality education. Never having taken any classes from BYU myself, however, I cannot guarantee that. If you're not happy with your schooling right now though, it's probably worth a shot.

i took an entire school year through the byu classes. and my older brother took them for 3 years of high school. the classes are really good and educational. some of them go really fast which is a major plus. :) but if you're not really good at keeping yourself on track and staying on a schedule the classes are hard.

Utah has online classes for high school for free. I hated school my senior year so I did a few of those.

because if you'd gotten a diploma instead of a GED you know it was spelled "desirable"?

In vague defense, a diploma or a GED isn't necessary to get higher education. I don't have either. But, it's not easy. Nor did I have to deal with a school board, exactly.

I know people who can speak perfectly formed sentences, proper grammar and all, like they teach you in English, but when they start writing on paper, it's almost like you need a urim and thummim to decipher it.It can actually be caused by a mental condition which, usually, is brought on because the person isn't/wasn't challenged enough through their life to actually make an effort to spell correctly. Getting a diploma also doesn't guarantee a person knows how to spell correctly at all.

I will agree with you here, mainly because some colleges do have what they call an "Entrance Exam," to see how well you place, and if you can actually do it. This is due to some people being home schooled and not actually being recognized like kids going through public schools. But a lot of these entrance exams that are given do require a GED or diploma, however, do not need an ACT score.

There are also people who go through trade schools, that do not require GEDs or diplomas.

There are also people who learn through their own personal growth and apply everything they learn....

You don't necessarily have to through college to gain a higher education.
